Meet December’s Concept Hair Learner of the Month winner!
Elsie Bennetts won the December Concept Hair Learner of the Month award – we caught up with her to find out what it means to win.
“I am so grateful to be Concept Hair Learner of the Month! To even have been chosen as one of the 5 shortlisted was so exciting. It means a lot to me as I feel my hard work has paid off, especially as the photo I submitted is one of my favourites!”
19 year old Elsie started in the hair industry at the age of 16. After leaving secondary school she started her level 2 apprenticeship at Truro College and is now Level 2 qualified and working towards completing her Level 3.
When asked how she got into the industry, Elsie replied “I’ve always enjoyed doing my friends or family’s hair for an occasion, as well as my own! I was never interested in academic subjects at school, I’ve definitely always been more of a creative person.”
Elsie, who now works at Hair Hut, said “I’ve learnt so much by running my own column and having my own clients.
“I’ve also done training for Naked Weave hair extensions, which I absolutely loved doing, the results you can achieve with it are incredible!”
When asked what her favourite hairstyle is, Elsie said “I love a beachy wave, especially after doing a balayage on a client as this shows off the different tones and dimension in the hair.”
Elsie’s inspirations comes from the hairdressers that she looks up to, “The results they achieve really push me to keep working hard and be the best I can be. I’ve been on a few courses and have seen their work/salons in real life – I came away feeling motivated and excited to go back to work to try out what I had learnt.”
In the future, Elsie would love to grow ger following on Instagram as well as go on more courses to get the best results possible for her clients. In the long run, she’d love to have a full client base to then open a salon of her own!
