REVIEW: DAFNI Allure straightening brush

dafni allure

We put the ‘brush that broke the internet’ to the test, to see how a straightening brush matches up to a normal hair straightening routine.

Our reviewers Taylor and Grace tried out the DAFNI Allure for a few weeks, and we found out what they thought about the brush.

The product

The DAFNI Allure is a cordless straightening brush with four times the surface of a regular flat iron. It runs at 185°, which is lower than average, to protect hair from heat damage. DAFNI says it can provide three uses before it needs charging again.

The price

The brush retails at £155 with a two-year warranty included.

The review

1. Had you ever used a hair straightening brush before?

Taylor: No. I’d always been a bit sceptical as to whether they’d tame my morning frizz but this one looked a bit different and is affordable, so I thought I’d give it a go as I’d heard great things.

Grace: No.

2. When would you use this brush?

Taylor: For me, it’s in the morning – a quick fix before work. You haven’t got time to sit and section your hair for straightening, this saves time and looks just as good.

Grace: During the day, if my hair could do with a freshen up or if I had limited time to get ready.

3. What were the top three things you liked about the brush?

Taylor: It heats up really quickly, it’s small and easy to pack and doesn’t snag at the hair.

Grace: The brush heated up really quickly which was great, it was easy to use and it didn’t feel like I was doing as much damage to my hair as normal straighteners would.

4. Is there anything you’d change?

Taylor: The brush seemed to me to be better suited to people with thick hair – as mine isn’t, I could really feel the heat on my head.

Grace: Although the brush worked really well, I think I would struggle to straighten any particularly wavy bits of hair as there is nothing to grasp the brush together with. I would look at adapting it so users can apply a little more force.

5. Will you keep using it?

Taylor: Yes, definitely.

Grace: Yes!

6. Do you think the brush is value for money?

Taylor: Compared to competitor’s products, it offers good value for money.

Grace: I’d pay around £100.

7. What would you rate the brush out of 5?

Taylor: 4/5

Grace: 4/5
