The UK & Ireland final of Wella TrendVision 2019 took place at London’s Roundhouse on Monday night.
Gold, silver and bronze winners were chosen from four different categories – color artist, creative artist, male grooming and runway. Guests were also able to vote for their favourite look on the night, with People’s Choice Awards being awarded to Gjorgi Sokolov of Headmaster Richmond and Vitor Pessoa of Maven Hair Studio.
Judging for the competition itself was left to some of the biggest names in British hairdressing, including Bruce Masefield, Errol Douglas MBE, Kerry Hayden and Indira Schauwecker.
They chose Sophie Kinloch of Mcintyres Salons and Heather McKenzie of The Style Bar as the UK’s Creative Artist and Color Artist of the Year respectively. Leandro Santos Santana of Decode Hair and Clare Kenny of Flatiron were the Ireland winners in the two categories.
Dexter Dapper Johnson of TONI&GUY was named Male Grooming gold winner across UK and Ireland, and Stephanie Darbyshire – also of TONI&GUY – won Runway gold. The full list of winners is available at www.wella.co.uk/trendvision.
The event was presented by TV favourite Vernon Kay and hairdressing legend Patrick Cameron. As well as the TrendVision finalists, guests were treated to a show by the Sassoon Academy team celebrating 65 years of Sassoon and ‘Collaborate’, a show featuring work by Akin Konizi, HOB Academy, Charlie Taylor, Darren Ambrose, Darren Lacken, Crow Street Collective, Dom Capel, Lara Johnson Lifestyle, Goldsworthys and Sanrizz.
Wella’s Technical Director Robert Eaton also showcased strong and powerful silhouettes in the night’s final show, ‘Celestial’.
