Zoe Irwin and Robert Eaton gave their insight into the upcoming hair trends at a Wella Koleston Perfect Me+ launch event.

The presentation and panel discussion were held at the prestigious London Edition Hotel earlier this month, with guests being told what’s going to be hot in hair in S/S 19.

Zoe Irwin and Robert Eaton gave the talk, and were later joined by Jayson Grey, Clayde Baumann and Suzanne Alphonse to discuss topical hair colour issues in a panel hosted by How to Cut It host Dom Lehane.

Futuristic Tones

Zoe Irwin said: “We have started to work far more on what is commonly known as toning hair. When we look at futuristic tones there is a grey undertone with a colour on top. We’ve come to wanting everything in one place – cool tones and warm tones together.

“It’s super cool but really high-end.”

Robert Eaton added: “Futuristic Tones is something I’m really excited about. One of the techniques that people will be asking for in salons is layering colours – layering colours to create something new, not seen before: innovative and new.

“It relates to lots of different customers that come into our salons.”

Amber Slate

Zoe explained: “We are exploring a 1970s mustard pallet right now. It’s a 70s pallet through a 2018 lens.”

Robert said: “Amber Slate is creating colours that have a soft glow with cool or warm tones mixed together. It is working with a cooler undertone and that soft amber glow that lies under the surface of it.”

Colour Texture Embrace

Zoe said: “The natural texture market is growing in a major way. This is all about talking textured hair and putting beautiful colour techniques with it.”

Robert added: “Stylists need to be more knowledgeable about working with textured hair. We are working with braiding hair and painting on top of the braids.”
