Scotland’s Best Student Barber competition is returning to the SEC, Glasgow on Sunday 28th and Monday 29th April 2019.

Hosted as part of the Scottish Hair & Barber trade shows, the Barber Stage, sponsored by Andis, will feature the live finals of Scotland’s Best Barber, as well as announce the winner of Scotland’s Best Student Barber.

Plus, this year Andis, the Great British Barbering Academy and Styling Products UK are searching for Scotland’s Best Barbering College, a brand new addition to the competitions.

The competitions aim to recognise professional and student barbers for their work, providing them with a chance to showcase their skills to a panel of expert judges.

Those wishing to take part in the competitions have until the 31st March to enter.

Last year, Sam Massey was crowned Scotland’s Best Barber 2018 and Concept Hair Apprentice of the Month nominee Blayre Turnbull was named Scotland’s Best Student Barber.

Sam will be returning to the exhibition to showcase his award-winning skills.

How to enter Scotland’s Best Student Barber

This competition is open to anyone studying towards a recognised barbering or hairdressing qualification with no previous cutting experience.

Entries will be judged on your photographic submission. Please ensure that your photograph images are saved as your full name.

The photographs must comply with the terms of entry, which are:

  • Images must be taken and presented in a professional manner.
  • Images entered by email must be good quality images in JPG format – good quality mobile phone photos will be allowed.
  • All photos must be saved as your full name.

Each photographic submission must comprise of at least two head shot photographs. These must show only front and side head shots.

Each photographic submission must be saved as the name of the entrant.

All entries must be the original and the unassisted work of the applicant.

Photographs must not have been previously published and the applicant must enjoy the intellectual property ownership of the photographs or obtain written agreement of the rights holder prior to submission.

Entry to the competition is free.

How to enter Scotland’s Best Barbering College

This competition is open to all colleges or academies with students studying towards a recognised barbering or hairdressing qualification with no previous cutting experience.

To qualify for the award colleges will have to submit a minimum of 4 students.

Students will be judged on their photographic submission. Please ensure that images are saved as full names and the college or institution is named in full.

The photographs must comply with the terms of entry, which are:

  • Images must be taken and presented in a professional manner.
  • Images entered by email must be good quality images in JPG format – good quality mobile phone photos will be allowed.
  • All photos must be saved as full names.

Entry to the competition is free.

The Barber Stage will also see a host of leading Scottish barbering talent perform a range of demonstrations, from cutting and shaving techniques to styling and colouring.

Scottish Hair & Barber is a national hair and barber trade show which runs alongside the Scottish Beauty exhibition at the SEC, Glasgow.

Up to 350 brands from across the barber, hair and beauty sectors will be in attendance, with talks and live demonstrations providing attendees with the chance to learn about the latest trends, products and techniques, gain business advice and network amongst thousands of other professionals.
