The National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF) is a membership organisation for hair and beauty professionals that offers a wide range of value-for-money benefits and discounts on vital business essentials. Established in 1942, the NHBF has over 7,000 members and is the UK’s largest trade body for the hair, beauty and barbering industries.

The NHBF focuses on helping members to run successful and profitable hair and beauty businesses by providing advice, specialist support and tailored services to meet the unique challenges of running a salon or barbershop.

Members tell us what matters 

Each year, the NHBF runs various surveys to its members and non-members to understand the industry’s current state. Results from those surveys shape our work and lead us to campaign at the highest levels on the key issues that affect salon/barbershop businesses, including Covid-19 recovery, tax, wages and apprenticeships.

We are also raising awareness of important industry topics such as employment law, mental health, inclusivity, and sustainability, and providing information and resources to help our Members while making sure their voice is heard.

Shaping the Future of the Industry campaign

The NHBF has dedicated July to the new generation of hair and beauty apprentices and learners just starting in their career. We want to start a discussion and ask what the future of hairdressing looks like, and is it what you want? We need apprentices and learners just starting in their careers to join the conversation, and let us know your thoughts.
