Asha Lahel won November’s Learner of the Month award and we caught up with her to get to know her story a little better and see what it feels like to be the winner.

Asha’s Winning Look

19 year old Asha, who has been in the hair industry for 4 years is currently studying her level 3.  Her journey began back in school when she first started at St. Peters Derby salon as a Saturday girl while doing her GCSEs.  Once finishing school, she moved on to became full time and started her apprenticeship at KH Hair.

When asked why she wanted to get into hairdressing, Asha said “Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be in the hair industry. My mum is also in the industry so I definitely get it from her. I loved how creative you can be and also love how many different paths you can take.”

“I love colour work so you mainly catch me colouring and covered in bleach! A beach wave or a bouncy blow dry look are my go to!”

When asked what the future holds, Asha explained that she has a lot of goals. “I have quite a few goals but the main ones i’m working towards are taking part in competitions, being involved in photoshoots and one day having my own salon.”

“Seeing what other people have achieved and seeing what can be achieved inspires me the most”
