Wioleta Alani won the March Concept Hair Learner of the Month award – we caught up with her to find out what it means to win.
Originally from Poland, Wioleta is a 29-year-old student at Wiltshire College studying towards her Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Hairdressing. Wioleta is not new to the hair industry she has been in it for around 7 years. She studied hairdressing for one year in Poland and then worked for a year in a salon. Since moving to England, she has worked as a self-employed hairdresser alongside her studies at college.
It’s hard to believe that Wioleta’s winning entry is just her first time practicing Avant-Garde! She was inspired by sea coral and fishing nets. The look was experimenting with textures and highlighting the contrast between them. When asked how she felt about winning the award, she explained “I am really happy that people liked my entry and honoured that the judges chose it out of so many amazing hairstyles.”
Wioleta enjoyed styling and dressing hair since she was a child and that evolved into colouring and experimenting with different hairstyles. For now, her goal is to complete her course with a high grade and for the future, she is hoping to have her own salon and take an active part in hair competitions.
Wioleta finished by adding that her favourite thing about the hair industry is the fact that you never stop learning, and there is always more place for creativity.
Congratulations, Wioleta! Entries are now open for the April award, with a L’Oreal prize on offer to the winner.
To enter, hair and barbering students and apprentices must tag us in a photo of their work on social media and use #ConceptHairLOTM. Our judges’ favourites (up to a maximum of eight) then go to a public vote at the end of the month before a winner is crowned. For full entry info, click here.
