HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards – Winners Announced
The best of British hairdressing was celebrated last night at HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards 2020.
HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards, now in its 22nd year, promote professionalism, innovation and excellence, while recognising those individuals and teams who work tirelessly to raise the profile of the hairdressing industry. This year all the award winners were announced during a virtual ceremony on Monday 25th January, hosted by TV personality Joel Dommett and Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards.
Ego Hair Design captured the attention of judges to win the title of Salon of the Year 1 and Bloggs Salon were crowned Salon of the Year 2, the top accolades that celebrate single independent ventures that are excelling in all aspects of business.
Business Director of the Year was won by Colin McAndrew, owner of Medusa Hairdressing in Edinburgh, who was recognised for his impressive career achievements as well as his success as a salon team motivator and a consistent entrepreneur securing great profit for his company.
Hare & Bone walked away with the Independent Salon – Business Newcomer award, recognising the top British hairdressing entrepreneur who has made their hairdressing dream a reality and launched a successful business and styling it out was Linnaean in Battersea who won the Salon Design award for its wellness concept salon.
Pushing the industry forward, Jessica Crane from Bristol claimed the top spot in the Innovation of the Year category for her online programme for salon managers, Systemise for Success and rising star John Alfred from Paul Edmonds Salon in London (Knightsbridge and Battersea) was been named Assistant/Junior of the Year, demonstrating outstanding promise in hairdressing.
Commenting on the announcement, Jayne Lewis-Orr said: “The hair industry has faced an unprecedented challenge this year, but it feels wonderful to recognise and celebrate the individuals and teams that have continued to demonstrate incredible talent, creative ingenuity and great business acumen. I would like to congratulate all the winners on their awards tonight who should be very proud of their achievements.”
